Tianjing Yunhu | Adaptation and Verification of Airborne SAR Synthetic Aperture Radar with Zongheng CW15 UAV

Browse: 51 Time: 2026-09-17

In the field of remote sensing, synthetic aperture radar (SAR) has always been an indispensable core technology. It actively transmits microwave signals, unaffected by clouds, rain, snow, fog, haze, or darkness, enabling it to acquire high-resolution surface information around the clock. However, traditional SAR systems are bulky, heavy, and power-consuming, and have long been limited to manned aircraft or large satellite platforms, making flexible and rapid deployment difficult.

Suzhou Tianjing Yunhu Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd.'s lightweight miniature SAR payload has pushed technical specifications to a new level—0.05-meter ultra-high resolution, a lightweight design of ≤2.7kg, and low power consumption of ≤120W, supporting multiple operating modes such as strip imaging, spotlight imaging, interferometry, and full polarization. This system completely breaks through the limitations of traditional SAR's "heavy, large, and expensive" nature, truly enabling high-precision radar remote sensing to become miniaturized and widespread.

The mounted fixed-wing UAV is a flight platform inherently designed for "wide-area efficiency." Taking the Zongheng CW15 vertical takeoff and landing fixed-wing UAV as an example, its maximum takeoff weight is 16.5kg, and its mission payload limit is 3kg, perfectly matching the Tianjing Yunhu Lingyun lightweight miniature SAR's weight of only about 2kg. Even after being mounted, it maintains a maximum endurance of 180 minutes, a cruising speed of 61km/h, and can complete a wide-area scan of hundreds of square kilometers in a single flight. Compared to multi-rotor drones, fixed-wing platforms have longer endurance (1-8 hours), faster flight speed (60-150km/h), and higher flight altitude, making them more suitable for large-scale, long-distance remote sensing operations.

Our miniature SAR system is compatible with a full spectrum of flight platforms, including multi-rotor, fixed-wing, and manned aircraft, and has completed integrated flight tests on several mainstream models, including DJI M350/M400, and Zongheng CW15/CW25E/CW30/CW40/CW100. Among these, the flight test of the Zongheng CW15 equipped with the Lingyun lightweight model has been successfully completed. All technical indicators met the expected standards throughout the test, and the system output images showed clear outlines, rich details, high target scattering feature recognition, and real-time imaging capabilities enabling immediate data acquisition.

The applications of SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) are extremely broad:

1. Disaster Emergency Response: Capable of scanning a 500-square-kilometer disaster area within one hour, identifying inundation zones and landslide hazards, thus gaining crucial time for rescue and relief efforts.

2. Deformation Disaster Monitoring: Utilizing InSAR technology to monitor millimeter-level surface deformation, providing early warnings for building subsidence, bridge deformation, and geological disasters.

3. Maritime Vessel Monitoring: Identifying vessel types and course, monitoring oil spills, and retrieving sea surface wind and wave information, serving shipping safety and marine management.

4. Agriculture and Resource Exploration: Through multi-band penetration and polarization analysis, classifying and identifying crops and monitoring their growth, as well as detecting underground veins and geological structures.

5. Land Surveying and Pipeline Inspection: Large-scale, high-precision topographic mapping and infrastructure inspection, improving efficiency by over 60% and reducing costs by over 50%.

The deep integration of miniature synthetic aperture radar (SAR) with fixed-wing UAVs is reshaping the technological boundaries of remote sensing monitoring with its core advantages of all-weather operation, high precision, long endurance, and wide coverage, providing efficient, flexible, and low-cost new remote sensing solutions for various industries.

We focus on the research and development and solution provision of miniature synthetic aperture radar (SAR) systems. Our products currently offer coverage capabilities across multiple bands, including X, Ku, K, Ka, C, W, L, and P. From core algorithms to overall system integration, from lightweight design to multi-platform compatibility, we consistently adhere to independent innovation, committed to making miniature SAR lighter, clearer, and more accurate!

Tianjing Yunhu | MiniSAR: Full Polarimetric Imaging Capability

In the field of remote sensing today, synthetic aperture radar (SAR), visible light, and infrared together form a multi-layered observation system. Visible light remote sensing is intuitive and clear, while infrared remote sensing excels at thermal sensing. However, both are passive detection methods, heavily reliant on sunlight or the target's own thermal radiation. Once they encounter cloud cover, nightfall, or rainy/foggy weather, their detection capabilities are significantly reduced or even completely lost.

Tianjing Yunhu | P-band Airborne SAR Radar System

Low-frequency radars (such as P-band and L-band radars) can "see farther and see more clearly" because of their longer wavelengths, lower attenuation, and reduced sensitivity to stealth coatings. In modern air defense systems, they are key to anti-stealth radars. They can penetrate 1-meter-thick camouflage netting and 3-meter-thick bushes to identify hidden tanks and radar stations, and are less likely to trigger enemy warning systems, demonstrating significant advantages in covert detection.

Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) target detection datasets are a core foundation for training and evaluating deep learning models. These datasets cover various target types, including ships, aircraft, vehicles, bridges, and oil tanks, and are applicable to multiple fields such as military reconnaissance, maritime monitoring, and traffic management. They not only provide high-resolution SAR images but also contain precise annotation information (category, location, size, etc.), ensuring improved algorithm performance.

Tianjing Yunhu | Airborne SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) Calibration Capability

Airborne SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) calibration refers to the calibration of various parameters of an airborne SAR system using specific methods to eliminate systematic and environmental errors, thereby ensuring the quality of SAR images, positioning accuracy, and the accuracy of inversion parameters. Airborne SAR calibration is mainly divided into three categories: geometric calibration, radiometric calibration, and polarimetric calibration.

UAV L-band Heavy Orbit Interferometric SAR System: Airborne Verification for Millimeter-Level Deformation Monitoring

Synthetic Aperture Radar Interferometry (InSAR) technology, with its all-weather, 24/7 capability and high sensitivity to surface deformation, has become an important tool for geological hazard monitoring, ground subsidence investigation, and infrastructure health diagnosis. Integrating InSAR technology onto unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) platforms further overcomes the limitations of long satellite revisit cycles, insufficient maneuverability, and high costs associated with manned operations, providing a new approach for regional, high-frequency, and high-precision deformation monitoring. However, the small size and susceptibility of UAV platforms to airflow disturbances make it difficult to maintain consistent flight paths during repeated flights, posing a significant challenge to double-track interferometry processing.
